MY TRUCK IS A 2005 QC 1500 4x4 HEMI MODS = FLOWMASTER HEMI EXAUST, JET CHIP PERFORMANCE MODULE, AEM BRUTE FORCE INTAKE, ROYAL PURPLE 5W-20 OIL, ROYAL PURPLE COOLANT ADDATIVE. PROBLEM = AFTER TAKING OFF, AND DRIVING IN CRUISING RANGE, I HEAR A TICKING (SOUNDS LIKE LIFTERS) FROM MY ENGIN. BUT WHEN I STOMP ON IT A LIL AND HEAR THAT OH SO BEAUTIFUL GRUNT, IT GOES AWAY. THEN AFTER SHIFT CHANGE, THE SAME THING AGAIN. FEB 28,2005 = 8 MILES OFF THE LOT AND CURRENTLY I HAVE 18,500+ MILES. WHATS THE DEAL??????

 

Could be the "hemi tick" that many owners have. Also, many have complained about hearing their EGR valve tick loudly with the CAI. I would guess you have one of these, but don't know of a fix for either.

 

I agree...welcome the the Hemi tick club. You can take it in and have it checked but I'd be willing to put a lunch on it that they'll tell you that's what it is.

You can do a search on here for a ton of threads on Hemi tick. If that's what it is, basically nobody has a definate answer for what causes it, but the dealers all say it's normal, and doesn't cause any harm. Also, it doesn't show up in every engine, either (though it has for mine). For the most part, the posts on it have agreed. A few of the more creative guys just put on louder mufflers, then they don't hear it.

Bottom line, if that's what it is, it's kind of annoying and just rubs me that it shouldn't be there, but doesn't seem to be a problem.

 

suggestions for me i have lifter knock and no lifters i have the 4.7l and i have a lil tick at alltimes and no mods at all bought it with 36,xxxmiles now have 47,xxxmiles any ideas?
is the egr that loud or what?also i can hear my fuel pump is that common or is it going byebye
