Default 4.7L to a 5.2L

Can you swap a 4.7L motor for a 5.2L motor? if so is there anything I would need to know before I jump into this project?

You would be better off swapping to the 5.7

So you want to downgrade and make it hard on yourself? Because the electricals are totally different for the engine management, as well as transmission, exhaust, etc. The engine will physically bolt in with factory parts since it's the same family as the 360 (5.9), but the 318 was never available in the 3rd gen body. You would need ALL the donor stuff from a 360 truck and if you're actually going to spend the time and more importantly money to do this you'd be ahead of the game starting with a 360. As p38251 said, it would actually be easier to swap to a hemi since the 4.7 and 5.7 use similar engine management and same transmissions, though the hemi is fly by wire whereas the 4.7 is not.

I don't think the 4.7 shares the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the magnum motors......
