i have a 2005 ram 1500 4.7 with 220000 miles. problem started with week power shutting off at idle and bad valve rattle .so i replaced the timing chains oil pump and water pump.i start it up and it runs great and quiet just wont idle .i flash the pcm now wont start cleaned battery and replaced starter ignition switch . no codes when turning over it tries to start and some black smoke from tail pipe.

2 things, replace throttle positioning sensor, and crank shaft sensor, if truck is cranking but wont fire, something electrical is not sending a signal, these are the 2 most common issues with the 4.7

don't forget cam sensor too, buy oem, these 4.7 don't like aftermarket
