true duels mess up anything w/cats off??
ive recently put a cold air kit on and duels w/cats off. Nothing seems to be wrong. i just want to make sure. Ive also found a comp cam im going to do ive got the valve springs. waiting to get the cam. do you think its a good idea to do the cam. Need opinions... Ive got an 05 ram 1500 single cab 5.7 HEMI.
I don't think you'll have a problem with the cam, your problem's going to come from no cat. If you have access to a code scanner, check it. If it's running fine and not throwing any codes, mechanically you're fine without it.
Your biggest problem will be if you're in a state that has emissions testing. Even though most states just do code scans as well now, they also do visual inspections. Pretty likely they'll catch it there and reject the test. You can always throw the cat back on for the test, though.

I did that to a 5.9 liter i had. It would give an O2 sensor code every once in a while, but mpg/power didnt change. I wouldnt worry about it unless you're running really rich or lean. I put nearly 150,000 miles on it after i cut the cat off and put the dual with turn downs. It's still running strong today with its new owner.
Taking of the cats will not harm the engine as long as you put the 02 sensors back when you took the cats off. I'd also be careful if you ever have to have it inspected as they can hit you with fines for taking off the cats. It's kind of a Federal Law mandating that you don't tamper with the emission controls. I'm surprised you found a shop to take them off.
