Mega Cab Long Box?
Just saw the new Mega Cab Ram. Just love the interior. But, I need a long box on the back. Has anyone heard any rumors about putting a bigger box behind that cab? If its made, its sold the day it gets to the dealer.
In speaking with a dealer i know very well..Dodge is indeed looking at a new longer frame to make a megacab with a long bed ...and a megacab dually. when this will be done and out on the market ...is anyones quess
The problem with the mega cab is that the truck is as long as a quad cab with an eight foot bed on it all ready. They took the space gained from shortening the bed and put it into the cab, they didn't lop it off the total distance from bumper to bumper. A mega cab WITH the eight foot bed will be a very long truck (think Dept of transportation converted quad cabs from back in the day.) I also have heard that they are going to go ahead and offer the touring bus lenth truck sooner than later. Depends on how the mega comes out of the gate sales wise I guess.
PS I would love to see that pic mentioned above of the shorty dually. I can't even imagine it in my head. --Kevin

I got to disagree with y'all on this one. IMO the Megacab design is [:'(]
I got in it, walked around it and went through it and was not at all impressed. Blind spots out the wazzoo, waste of space in the rear and there is no way you can seat 6 people in that thing unless the person sitting in the front center wants to stand on the console. They could have slid the front seats back about 2" and still had more than enough room in the rear but they decided to skimp the front to make the rear bigger. You would have to be 7' tall to take up all that space! With the short bed it seems like the rear is 30' behind you. I can just imagine what it would be like with an 8' bed and then dual wheels on top of that!! Try getting that through a bank drive through ATM!! I like big trucks but dang!
If Dodge goes with an 8' bed I'm sure it will be for a very specialized customer (such as Rick up there
) but I bet they would need to put in the 6.1 Hemi just to pull all that truck around.

Thanks for the replies. Anyone who buys a truck like I'm looking for obviously doesn't want to cruise the burbs for the closest drive thru window. What I need is a truck for hauling trailers (horse and race) cross country to different events and be able to comfortably transport four - five adults on 1000+ mile trips. I also want to be able to put construction supplies in the bed of the truck (not hanging out the back with a bed extender or rope). A friend of mine just converted to a GMC crew cab, and it has everything I need and want. I want to stay Dodge, but my old Ram is just running out of legs. I held out for the new crew cab (Mega Cab), but it falls short in the bed area. If Dodge can build the Mega with a long box, I can wait until the 07s. If not, I'll be heading to my closest GMC or F@#$%$# Old Rebuilt Dodge dealer. Either way, by this time next year, me and my new truck will have a few thousand miles with each other.
PS - That I am aware of, ALL dodge trucks have had a serious blind spots since 94. Most trucks do. You just have to learn how to drive "around" them. The only vehicle that I know of with out a blind spot is the old *****'s Jeep - take off the top and fold the windshield down!!
