Hey all, I am new to the forums, and I just purchased my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 4.7L V8. I changed the oil today, and I was just wondering how many quarts it holds. I got 5 quarts out of it, and I figured I should put 5 quarts back in it. I checked the oil, but it looks to be a little low, I just wanted to ask before adding another quart. Thanks in advance...

 

5.5 qts to 6 qts. I would start with the 1/2 qt most of the ones that i have done take the 5.5 but i've seen a few take more. As long as your in the safe cross hatched zone you'll be ok.
