Shocks and other things
Greetings all,
Well im new here and now have owned my first Dodge ever and I love it real fun to drive. My Truck is a a 2003 Ram 1500 with the 4.7L, Quadcab 4x4 with 3.92 antislip, magnaflow cat back system and a K&N. I just finished leveling out the truck by twisting on the torsion bars. and it did a gret job in doing what i wanted it to do...but i have a question.
now that the truck is raised just a bit..wil i need shocks with a bit more travel? I will be going to Bilstein's they have a stock shock replacement ..but is that enough now that its been raised just a bit?.. My next step is to install the 4.7L H.O. parts..(cam, intake, and everything else) then at the same time install a true ram air hood with a ram air intake.
and im going to bring the single exhuast tailpipe out through the sheetmetal on the passenger side in front of the tire, then reprogram the truck. ill keep you up to date with my progress. ..so any answer on the shock travel?

Not sure what the stock ones are, but I'd be willing to guess that it will OK. If you are really concerned you can alwaysjack up the truck until the suspension is at full drop, mark the shock's piston and then take it out to see how much more travel you have. I have seen regular bilstiens bottom out so much that it actually breaks the shocks. That was on an F250 with a 3" lift though.
Personally, depending on the mileage, I'd just drop Bilstein or what ever shock company you want an email and ask them. They will know the specs on thier shocks way better than I.
