Batteries
I am looking to replace the battery in my 2005 Dodge Ram Quad Cab. I have been looking at the different types and the gel type has my interest. Is there any significant difference in the types of batteries that are offered? Are the gel types better than the acid types? Thanks.
Depends on what you use your truck for. If you do hardcore offroading, then the gel-cel does have it's advantages. If you don't, then the regular average every day battery will work just fine, and cost less.
I replace the battery in my 96 shortly after I bought it in 2010, and just installed the biggest, meanest battery they had on the shelf that would physically fit. That battery is still in the truck, and will fire the motor off in just a couple revolutions, even after sitting for a couple months.

My money is on Everstart from walmart. My last 36 month battery from them lasted 7 years. Gel batteries are like cold air intakes, throttle body spacers and sea foam. Cool to say you have one, but performance wise, they offer nothing.
