I'm new to the forum so forgive me if this question has been addressed elsewhere.


When I bought the truck used I was told it had the factory towing package but I would like to make sure. When I do a VIN search the results mention a 4-way wiring harness but the truck has a "Mopar" 7-way plug. I have read in other places that if there is a "Blue" connector under the dash for a brake controller then the 7-way was factory installed as part of the towing package.


Can any of you shed so light on this subject? Thank you in advance.

 

The dealer may have added it. The trailer-brake connector will be buried behind/under the parking brake pedal. And yes, it's blue.

 

Yep, almost any reputable controller manufacturer has the wiring diagram included if you want to cut.

I found an OEM plug-in style harness in my glove box when I bought mine. Might be worth finding one for simplicity's sake.

Took less than an hour, and three beers. Maybe four.

 

Mine has the 7 way receptacle through the bumper and the 4-way behind the bumper...........

 

Looks factory, or at least it matches what my truck looks like.
