Default 2008 ram 1500 5.7

Water pump went out. Replaced it,thermostat, radiator, cap, and serpentine belt. Now engine seems a bit down on power in low r.p.m.s. Did I maybe have some internal damage when pump went out. I nursed it home for over an hour on the freeway by turning the heat up full blast, it never over heated but hit 'h' a few times for a second.

Moved to the correct section.

Don't really know if you damaged the engine until you performs some tests. Compression check for starters.

i would bet head gasket took a **** and or dropped valve seats. getting to the h on the gauge is definitly overheating, anything past the middle mark scares me unless an engine rebuild is already planned as soon as it makes it home.
