Drivers side tail lamp brake light issue
Lately I've need getting the lamp out chime and noticed my brake light (middle) wasn't working when depressing the brake pedal. The running light works just not the brake light going brighter. Took it apart changed the bulb....nothing. I noticed the socket is melted. I then ordered two new tail light circuit boards from Rock Auto. I installed the board with a new tail lamp....nothing! Wtf! So, now what? This light burnt out on me about 4 months ago and was a bitch to remove because of the burnt plastic; it shouldn't matter now that I replaced the circuit board and a new bulb. Could the connector be bad? All other lights are working fine including the passenger brake lights a,d running light. Any ideas?
a lot of corrosion is going on with dodge lately, some have had to replace the forward control module , other the complete fuse box, might start tracing wires to see if there is a break or short somewhere
Thanks for your reply. I pulled it apart again and tried some no-lux (die electric grease) between the connections with no luck . Then I started playing with the connector itself. Well that’s my problem! There’s a bad connection inside the connector with one of the wires. I put pressure on the wires and the brake light comes on. That explains the dinging on and off although now there’s no connection so the lamp out light blinks and stays on. So my only option is to splice a new connector pigbtailing and cutting the old one out. I’m hoping I can order a new one or it’s the junk yard.
Looks like rock auto seems to be the only one that would carry a pigtail assembly at $38 plus shipping. Or the auto wreckers. Better off brand new knowing a used one could be corroded down the road. My truck only has 55,000 KM just over 30,000 miles. Try my luck!
