Default Transmission issue P0700 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

2006 Ram 1500 Laramie
The check engine light came on yesterday. Did not hear any sounds, truck did not start driving differently. Yet, when I stopped and then started I noticed it was in 2nd gear.
Had code P0700. I know that's a general transmission fault.
I disconnected the battery.
Light went away and truck was running in 1st. As I sped up it shifted into 2nd, but no further and the check engine light came back on and will not shift back to 1st.

Any suggestions?
Planning on taking it to Transmission shop later to get the TCM codes.

Thanks

You're in limp mode, you need to find out the rest of the codes to see whether it's something minor or wholesale disaster lol.
