I dropped the trans pan (as well as replaced both filters) and let it drain for around 1.5 days because I was waiting for O'Reilly to get a new pan shipped as it was dented and gasket was leaking. I don't know how much fluid I drained but I'm already up to 9 quarts of trans fluid that I've put in.
Procedure I do when checking. Drive it around for around 10 minutes, cycle through park neutral and drive then put it in park and check.
I've added 9 quarts and still on the half way mark between cold and hot.. Should I keep adding?

Drive for an hour or so to get trans up to temp... suppose to be at 180 degrees when checking fluid level. Cold tranny will show a lower level..... as trans warms the level on stick will rise accordingly.
Going on memory pretty sure I put 9 1/4 into my 4X4..... 2 wheel drive has smaller pan so less fluid is needed. ALWAYS never over fill...... slightly under filled is better than overfill.
