Unhappy No reverse lights

2003 Ram 1500 Quad SLT with automatic transmission and the reverse lights aren't getting power. I've searched trying to find out what could cause this. Bulbs and fuse are good and other tail lights works so my thought is it's a switch somewhere. After searching I've found reference to a neutral switch and TRS. I have no idea which to look for or buy???

Crawl underneath the truck you should see a plug with two wire coming out from it. Check to see that one of the wires has power with the ignition on (but don't start vehicle) with the transmission in reverse Take Caution not to touch he other wire or it could short the system and cause further issues. If so you most likely have ad effective switch it should be fairly easy to access and replace I prefer to use auto recyclers for this type of part as it is much cheaper and it may last quite a long time if not for the rest of the time you own it. If not you will have to start checking wires to get power to the switch.

Don't want to appear stupid but where about under the truck? I'm pretty sure it's on or about the transmission but any other information would be greatly appreciated.

It should be just above the bottom of the transmission on one side or the other just above the pan. Sorry I am less familiar with the automatics as all own are manual trans. But it is the same part and serves the same purpose. The older style looks like a black insulator with two button ends but the newer model trucks may have a simple black plastic part that plugs into the sensor. I will try to look at mine on my manual trans. Truck tomorrow it should be the same although the location may be a little different. This will at least allow me to give you a good description of what and where. Dave

Switch should be right below where the shift linkage goes into the trans.
