Instrument cluster lamps

bought the truck about 5mos ago, so far replaced the boards in tail lamps which corrected the brakelight issue and the lamp out indication on the dash. All lights are working correctly except: one yellow clearance(roof) light is out and... NO instrument cluster or ac control lights. All indicator lights work fine ie: warning lights, cel, odometer, etc. its the backlighting in both clusters that are not working. I replaced the ten blown lamps in the instrument cluster and still waiting for the three lamps for the ac controls. Still no instrument lights. I was thinking its the headlight switch itself but after reading thru the FCM and PDC threads... any ideas?
being a first post and all, thx for reading

Well! Typical me! I guess I got sidetracked by reading all the posts about the FCM and PDM trying to figure out my instrument lights. I did have to replace all 10 lamps and will pick the 3 for the ac panel tomorrow.
I finally opened the fuse box and tracked down fuse 18 (15A) for interior illumination....The fuse was not there! put a new 15A in and Voila! I have instrument lights! Stupid but lucky me, never thought they were considered interior illumination!
