"LAMP OUT" ghost
2004 Ram 1500 Hemi
Been chasing this ghost for a couple of years.....need help!
The "LAMP OUT" alarm came in on a trip, promptly circled the vehicle, no lamps out, alarm promptly cleared.
Since then it has come in and out many times at random.
Things that seem to trigger it (but not always):
Right turn signal operation.
Pressing brake pedal.
Turning lights on (headlights)
Sometimes it comes in as soon as vehicle started.
Sometimes it goes weeks without alarming.
Sometimes (but not always) it stays in hard for a period of time. When it does, I pull over and get out expecting to find the culprit......never do.
Sometimes it comes in and out so fast can't investigate.
Sometimes when the rascal is really persistent, the right turn signal flashes really fast (sounds like it is flashing fast but by the time I get to where I can pull over it is back to normal. Yesterday it got into this fast flashing mode on a busy IH and led to this post.
I have changed bulbs where suspected.....rear turn and stop bulbs.
Anybody got a clue? Please help! Thx

Poor connection somewhere. Possible bad ground but sure seems to be related to right turn signal. I would start by closely inspecting bulbs and their pin contacts and sockets. Then check grounds. If all good check grounds then start tracing wiring. Another possibility is tail light circuit boards.
