Default SRT-10 Ignition

I saw someone did the SRT-10 ignition setup in their non SRT-10 Ram. Couple questions....

1. I have seen the SRT-10 push button start, but exactly how does it work? Do you need to put the key in and turn to the on position? I would assume so but am curious.

2. WHat is the cost to put in a non SRT-10?

yea im pretty sure you put the key in the on position and hit the start button, plus you should check out a non srt push button, mite be easier to find.

other than that, pretty nice idea! does the ignition replace the cigaret lighter though?(just curious...non smoker)cause there are kits that do.

I would love to find a kit that uses some kind of transmitter you keep in your pocket that would replace the need for a key. Then just push the button. Or even when you push the unlock button on your remote transmitter it enables the power to the truck, unlocks the column and enables the push start. Anyone ever see or hear of such a thing?

wouldnt it be easier to steal your truck that way? but hey seriously, we could make some money, you with your ignition, me with my exhaust but seriously, if you get a remote start and the srt 10 ignition, i think a local shop can tweak it a little and make it work.

I am not worried about theft. Do not drive it to many places and if a transmitter or the unlock button on my keychain was required I feel fairly safe.

If we did make something a disclaimer would be required about not being responsible for theft though.

The SRT-10 ignition still requires a key, so why the big idea about theft? You just insert the key, turn it to run and mash the start button. No key, no start; especially if it has the sentry key, which I'm pretty sure the SRT-10 has.

Found some more info here. This is a link that was brought up some time ago and I believe it has a picture of one that was already done.

Gotcha. In that case, time to invest in a good security system.
