Default 02 Ram 1500 Oil Pressure Issue

Hey guys,

so im a new to me dodge owner and as the title states above, I’m having an oil pressure issue.

When im at a stop my oil pressure gauge sits idle at about 25% (halfway between the low mark and the middle line on the gauge.) But, while I’m on the gas pedal the gauge moves up to about 75% and stays there while I’m on the gas, then goes back down when I stop again.

ive read through some other threads of guys having some similar issues but not exactly like mine. So, I just wanted to see what you guys thought could be causing the problem. And yes, my oil and oil filter were just changed so low oil is not the problem. 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4WD

thanks in advance.

It’s a 4.7 and the odometer reads 130k but I’m pretty sure it was rolled back. So I’m not sure how many miles it has.

today I had the oil and oil filter changed, and the tranny was flushed and filter changed.

That behavior is pretty normal then...... So long as you have better than 10 psi at idle, and about 10 psi more per 1000 RPM, it's all good.

So I shouldn’t stress about it? What could I do to make it idle where it is suppose to?

Idle where it is supposed to? Are you referring to oil pressure? Or engine RPM?
