PLEASE HELP!! 48re transmission problems
Hey guys I have a 2006 ram 2500 5.9 cummins, 4x4, automatic, 188,000. Has 35's small lift and a bully dog tuner. Earlier today I was driving and got on the throttle a little heavy (probably 3/4 or so) from about 30 mph and it took off fine and then the RPM's shot up and the truck did not pull. Tires were definitely not spinning btw. It now shifts perfectly fine under normal throttle but every time I get into it it does the same thing. Revs and does not take off! Any advice will. E greatly appreciated!
If you start from a stop and go easy, then get on it it does the same thing. I think it is slipping but I really don't know? When it does it, it doesn't pull at all. But like I said if you drive it easy it never does it. Just when you get in the throttle
They still used the 48RE in the 06 trucks? Wow......
Anyway, crawl under the truck. On the drivers side of the trans, about halfway back, there is an 8 pin connector that plugs straight down into the top of the valve body. (on the outside of the trans) Unplug it. Go for a drive. Your trans will have ZERO automatic function, you will have to start out in first, and shift as appropriate. You also will not have TCC, or O/D, so, keep it slow and easy. If the trans goes into the gear you tell it to, when you tell it to, and doesn't exhibit undesired behavior, (like slipping when you get into it....) you just have an electronics problem, and it'll be an easy fix. If it still slips, time for a rebuild.

Governor pressure sensor, and solenoid. You can get 'em as a set, for less than a 100 bucks. I replaced the output speed sensor as well, just for grins. Fixed my problems.
