Default A/C snow flake light comes on

2005 RAM 1500 SLT. When I turn on the fan switch or the ignition with the fan on the A/C button light comes on even if I had tuned it off the time before. This changed to this last fall. Does the computer do this and how can I turn it off so it stays off when starting?

The AC comes on at any mode mix setting that is in range of defrost.

If I have it set to floor, heat on high, fan switch off, then the A/C light is off. When I turn fan on A/C light comes on. I turn A/C off. When I turn engine off and restart the A/C light comes back on since the fan is on. Or if fan is off for an extended time period A/c comes back when fan is turned on.

I don’t know why it’s doing that, but it shouldn’t. Even on defrost, it should not illuminate. Yes, your compressor is activated, but the light should not come on. Unless you push it. You might have a defective push button.

Try disconnecting the battery and touching the battery leads together to drain all energy from system. Then reconnect for full reboot. Sometimes that's all it needs
