Truck will not start!
Okay so I just bought a 2002 ram 1500. Rebuilt motor because had blown one when bought. Didn't notice at time of buying that the key was an original it's just an cut key. Does this truck have the transponder chip keys? I'm thinking it does but the ignition doesn't have the black ring around it where the key goes in. An it will turn over but wont start the truck. So am I missing something?
Someone help please!
Bought a truck had blown motor. Replaced the bad one with another. Get everything back together an it won't start. Rechecked timing an it's all lined up. It's getting fuel an spark. Replaced every sensor possible. All it will do is sputter here an there. I also checked the fuel pressure an its like at 45. Does anyone know what else it could be?

Yes only because it had no motor the old one was taken out an in the bed said to be blown. So I dropped a 5.7 in it. Yes my fault for not paying enough attention to the key. An now since I'm done putting the new motor in it want do anything but turn over an I just picked up my key an was like wow that's why because it doesn't have the transponder chip it's just a cut key.

Are your timing marks lined up right? Seems like if you are getting spark and fuel that timing is last item to check.
Maybe try some starting fluid.
If all this has been tried and checked then I recommend getting key made at Dodge dealer. That's a least one potential cause checked off. Though with fuel and spark I don't think engine is being immobilized.

Maybe it's not getting enough fuel. Have you checked fuel pump and fuel filter?
For the key issue, have you checked the VTSS light (vehicle theft security)? VTSS is red LED in lower right quadrant of instrument panel, I think between speedo and coolant gauge for your truck. If you have key immobilizer system (aka SKIM), it will flash the VTSS when you turn key to on position. If it detects a good key, the VTSS will stay on steady for three seconds.
