Default Replace Both U-Joints or Just One?

2006 Ram 1500 manual 2wd 4.7 gas V8
The U-Joint connecting the back of the drive shaft to the rear differential is "clunking."

I got under there and rotated it by hand and there's a lot of play in one of the trunnions which is pretty loose.
You can see it, here, if you want.

I assume this needs replaced. My question is, should I replace the front one while I'm under there and taking the drive shaft off?
Do they usually go in pairs or to they wear totally differently because of locations?
My thinking is, if they *do* both wear at about the same rate, then I'll do them both because the parts are so cheap and I'm already dirty.

On a side note, I've been driving it like this for a year. Are these dangerous to drive like this?

Thanks!

Yeah, while you have it out, change 'em both.

You want to fix it before it fails..... then it gets REAL expensive, right quick.

Is that because of all the damage it would do if it broke loose while driving?

Yes. Having your driveshaft flop around at several thousand RPM is just no fun at all, then when it finally does abandon the truck, it leaves a nice hole to puke fluid out of, so, the t-case loses lubrication...... Just a bad scene all the way around.

Replace them both while you’re at it
