2004 Quad 1500 4x4 electrical questions
I have a 2004 Quad 1500 electrical question.
I have the dreaded power draw that kills the battery every 2-3 days. More-so called fuse #51 problem, if removed no power draw. Last summer I traced to the Dash cluster, if plugs removed power draw on fuse #51 is gone. Plug cluster back in and power draw back on fuse # 51.
My cruise control works-Horn Works and all gauges on cluster work. Everything on dash works no problems.
So I got a notice from another forum that someone says he had a similar problem with fuse #51 power draw and he traced back to clock spring in steering column. He said it controls when the truck/cluster goes into sleep mode.
My question is, can someone verify that it could be the clock spring and it does or could control the sleep mode for the truck.
Right now I have a timer relay in place of fuse #51 that after the truck shuts off stays on for 99 minutes so I can control my auto lock/remote start if not then I have to restart the truck to lock the doors. I previously just had a relay in there with the fuse that would kill power as i shut truck when i was exiting the truck. then when I was entering the truck I had to restart the truck to have power to locks.
Well my main question is the clock spring controlling the sleep mode in the ram trucks is it possible as I said when I remove the dash cluster power draw was gone.
Thing is this topic is wide spread in other ram forums and no one has posted a fix that corrected their Fuse 51 problem.
