Default rear diff question, concerned

bought a 2005 reg cab short box 5.7. 130,000 miles. has anti spin 3.55 rear.

noticed when trickling into the garage (very slow) i can feel the rear end, not sure how to describe it. very light shimmy.

noticed after driving on the interstate 70mph, then coming off, stop, very first turn during acceleration there is a little shimmy from the rear but goes away.

no grinding or metal on metal sounds. no issues when cruising.

no idea when last fluid service was.

any of this normal, or common?

This sure sounds like worn out drive shaft universal joint(s). Not a big deal to replace. Not expensive either (25$-40$) per joint. Go with Spicer.

You might also check for a recall on loose pinion nut.
Pull the diff cover and inspect. Friction modifier and gear lube don't last forever.
Check E-brake shoes. Had a lining fall off one of mine.

Don’t even get me started on the P77 pinion nut recall. Took it to the stealership in Feb 2017 for the recall. In May 2017 after 300 miles it started leaking gear fluid from the pinion seal. Their “opinion” was with 172K miles the seal was old and started leaking. After some “discussion” including showing them 40+ pages of NTSB documents, they changed the seal. Last week, with less than 1,000 miles since the seal replacement, I heard a loud whine from the rear. I thought it was a wheel bearing. Nope. The pinion and ring gear started coming apart and the diff is full of metal.

The fun will soon start when I return looking for $$$ to cover the rear rebuild.

Recommend replacing the fluid in the differential. Mopar Friction Modifier comes in a 4 ounce bottle. I personally use the Walmart synthetic gear lube and Mopar modifier. I wanted the Mopar fluid because I know it works, and walmart has lube without the modifier already added to the lube formula.
There is a flat magnet in the bottom of the differential. Be sure to clean it off. Your diff fluid is going to have some metal wear in it, this is normal. Let us know if you find anything laying at the bottom of the differential housing.
I second the recommendation to check the u joint. Any play at all means you have lost some bearings on the end caps. If you need a new u joint, note that it has a zerk fitting and needs to be greased.
Consider changing the tranny fluid and filters also. A messy job, but not difficult. It will also let you see if anything is lying in the bottom of the pan.

i did a rear diff oil change. put in 75 140 amsoil along with 1 4oz bottle of the mopar friction modifier. it got better but occasionally when taking off and turning from a stop i feel it grab for a split second. after long drives on the 70mph interstate, the first stop and turn on an off ramp i feel it for a split second. both instances are pretty mild. the magnet in the diff was clean, the old fluid didnt look bad either.

weird thing is when i bought the vehicle from the dealer a couple weeks ago i felt that grab, i spoke to a mechanic about it doing this during my test drive from slow turns, i never took it on the interstate so i never brought up the after interstate driving grab, he said change fluid and add the modifier and he said its not uncommon to feel a light grab especially after stints on the interstate.

no sure if i have an issue or not?

I got new tires and it seems to have gotten better yet. Still not sure if feeling an occasional light grab from the rear diff is common? Maybe add another 1oz of the mopar friction modifier?
