Default weird external noise

this is a shot in the dark but im gonna try and see if you guys can help me find this noise

05 1500 5.7 130,000 miles. Auto, short box reg cab

Noise sounds similar to brake pads that have no pad left grinding on the rotor. The sound does not follow an rpm. I hear it in park, drive, reverse, 4wd. I try finding it but cant seem to pin point it while under the truck. Could it be internal exhaust or cat? Here is a video, turn your volume up.

An idea: Crawl under the truck and look around for loosening heat shields along the exhaust system. Start at the exhaust manifolds under the hood. Grab each shield along the way and give it a good tug and wiggle. Any movement in any of them will cause random rattling like your video. Check the pipe hangers and rubbers while you are at it.

Check for a cracked Y-pipe.

you may have nailed it - THANK YOU. I inspected all the shields and they were fine. I got out the ol screwdriver/stethescope and the only spot i could hear that noise was the passenger frame rail. Weird. After a bit i put pressure on the muffler and i believe the sound went away. Next i pulled the front muffler exhaust hangers together by hand and it appeared the noise stopped. I noticed on that hanger the rubber insulator was intact but loose /pooched/holes stretched. I swapped it out with a different downstream one that fit tighter and so far i havent heard that noise.

What i cant wrap my head around is how or what was generating that noise? A somewhat sloppy rubber hanger isolator doesnt seem like it would make that noise??

The noise wasn't coming from the rubber itself. It would be coming from the hanger studs resonating into the frame or/and the pipe from being rapapataptaptapped by the rubber. Like a tuning fork.

Happy to help! Glad you found it.
