Default "Sea Foam"

Has anybody tried using "Sea Foam" in their truck? You know, having it sucked through the vaccuum system? My cousin just used it in his Cobra...it's running fine but, it ran fine before. My truck runs fine...so should I stick to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" rule?

I use "Sea Foam" in mine at every oil change in the tank to keep the injectors clean. I change oil regularly so crankcase cleanup isn't necessary yet. I've had no problems with it yet, but I'm only at 14,600 miles. I learned of it in the RX7 forums for clean up and regular care on rotaries.

I haven't used it in my truck (yet), but I used to use it in my old vehicle, and I still use it in both of my boats, as well as assorted other engines (generator, etc). It's works great, and keeps things nice and clean.

It is good at keeping the carbon to a minimum. I use it to decarb 2 stroke outboards. Makes it smoke enough to have a neighbor come over to make sure the house wasn't on fire.

I just used it in my 99 Wrangler with 145k miles. Pulled off the breather tube and poured it thru the TB. Like with most of this kind of stuff, you like to think it helps, but at least it didn't run worse (except when I was actually pouring it in and until it burned itself out--then it's very rough)

I can assure you that Seafoam is great at keeping rings from sticking on a 2 stroke motor due to carbon buildup. As far as the application in 4 strokes, who knows. Could just be some good 'ole snake oil. Personally, I just use Seafoam/generic/FI cleaner in the tank at every oil change. Doesn't seem to hurt anything.

I noticed back when I installed my CAI, I had a lil bit of build up in my throttle body...I was just wondering if I should go for it.

This, Seafoam, will clean the carbon that has built up on the inside, not on the TB. Also, DO NOT SPRAY CLEANER INTO THE TB! From my understanding the butterfly is not sealed at the shaft and the cleaner can go into the inside mechanism and play havoc with the internal plastic pieces. If you want to clean the TB, wipe it with a rag, but DO NOT SPRAY.

I really doubt the benefits. I have had several vehicles well over 100k miles. My secret? Change the fluids.

Never had a clogged injector on my 180K mile ford pickup and never used any cleaners. It ran mint when I got rid of it.

You are all just wasting your money.
