Corrosion
I am running the "Line of Fire" light bar under the tail gate and I love the look. However, recently the right half won't go from low light (when headlights/parking lights are on) to full brightness when I brake. Same with the signal, when I flip on the right turn signal the light bar just flickers the tiniest bit instead of half of it flashing brightly like it is supposed to. This product simply plugs into the four-way trailer light connection that came with the towing package. I feer that corrosion it the culprit. I have some minor green corrosion going on inside the female plug (attached to the truck) and some on the male connection (part of the light bar). I got in there with a wire brush and it helped for awhile but now the problem is back. Will baking soda and water get rid of corrosion like on a car battery? What caused this in the first place? I thought I had a good seal, rubber to rubber. Can i submerge the plugs on baking soda and water or will this ruin them? Anyone think the light bar is faulty? The light bar plug connection cannot be made permenant (so no silicone for the future) because the light bar has to come off in order to drop the spare in the event of a flat. Anyone else had a problem with this product? Thanks --Kevin

To start I would take a piece of fine sandpaper and sand the connections. The male connector is easy, the female is not so easy. If you have CRC Electronics cleaner use it after sanding the connections. Then I'd plug and see if it made things better. If it works, I'd then take it apart and add a nice glob of dielectric grease. It will keep the connections corrosion free and relatively water resistant.
If it didn't work, time to figue out why. Check all the wiring for fraying, nicks, etc. Correct as necessary.
If all else fails, call the company and let them know about your problem. Perhaps yours isn't an isolated incident and they have a fix for it or even replace the one you have if there is some sort of warranty.
