if this was an old 350 or 454 i would do it without question, I just don't know much about the hemi, all I've ever done to it is regular maintenance

question about the new springs, ibsee two different springs, one has what looks like a metal cup on the bottom, is this an upgraded spring for the hemi?

No clue, I would suspect that the difference is between intake, and exhaust springs..... but, not 100% on that.

I replaced a valve spring on a 5.7 not long ago. I stuffed a string down the spark plug hole and turned the motor over to hold the valve up. Just an option if your limited on tools. The oem replacement spring i bought had the metal cup around the bottom i think your talking about. Not sure why they added that and had to cut it off to use the valve spring compressor tool i bought at harbor freight. Also would recommend putting rags or something around the spring so you dont drop a keeper down in the motor.

after some more research I found that the spring with the cup is a high performance spring, so I ordered the regular spring with no cup.
thanks for the tip about placing a rag around the spring, I will be using a magnet to try an catch the keepers when I compress the spimgs.
