07 ram shift issue

07 ram shift issue
2007 dodge ram 5.7l hemi 171k miles.
having issues with shifting. Truck will run great shift perfect when I leave for work in the morning. All of a sudden it starts acting up and hard shifts when ever it feels like it. But only sometimes. Other times I can make almost the entire 1 hr drive to work without a hitch. Sometimes it will be fine for days. Biggest issue is when cruising on highway about 75mph all of a sudden it will down shift into 3rd and stay there. It wont upshift or downshift at all. Like it' stuck in 3rd even when I stop. Now when I stop **** truck off start it back up it runs great and again it could last 5 mins or 5 days like that then go back yo malfunctioning. No check engine light ever comes on so I'm baffled on what it could be. It mainly happens when at highway speed. Any help would be great

Something is getting warm, and failing. Problem is, lots of parts that can do that to you. Does your truck have a separate TCM? Have you tried reading codes, even though the lite is not on?
