Default Ouch!

So i was driving home from the I Heezy to the O Peezy and I went around a a left turn under a little power. I started to get a little sideways. I then felt a bump and a bang and the left side of the truck dropped and the truck started handling wierd. I am all "damn, i blew out a tire... and probably screwed my rim up". 22's are expensive... I am pissed. Inyway i try to nurse it off the road into a parking lot and notice I have not throttle response... the engine revs build but the vehicle does not maintain its velocity. I am like huh... more serious than I thought. So I hit the brakes and the pedal goes to the floor.

I look out my drivers window and watch in peturbation as I watch my wheel bounce past. I am like bloody hell I am going to kill discount tires they screwed up my lug nuts...

So when i skate to a stop I get out and go retreive my wheel and tire... and notice that the brake rotor is still attached. turns out my inner axle shaft (or half shaft or whatever you want to call it) snapped right at where it exists the outher housing...

So now i am the proud owner of a 2004 dodge tripod.

I need a new shaft, brake backing plate (that was what the truck was resting on in that corner whilst I skated to a stop), new pads and rotor (seriously damaged whilst they were flying apart) brake housing (snapped after the shaft snapped) seals etc etc etc...... plus there is some minor damage where the wheel thumped the wheel well as it departed.

YAY!

Let me be the first to say. DAMN THAT SUCKS. Just glad you weren't trucking at 75 down the Interstate. [&o] I hope you find a great deal on your replacement parts!! Have seen this before on other vehicles and it's not pretty.

Warranty.... That is a mechanical failure, you were not off roading, just taking a corner on pavement. They only thing that should cost would be the pads and the wheel if damaged since it is not stock. Oh, hope they do not blame the aftermarket wheel.

Sorry if this turns out tto be a dupe post. I tried earlier and it apparently ended up in the digital aether somewhere.

Anyway... Sounds like aftermarket wheels. If so, I HIGHLY recommend putting the stock ones back on before taking it to the dealer. I've seen them claim undue stress from aftermarket nonstock-sized tires and wheels. No one need that hassle.

All the best.

damn...somewhat reminds me of when I had a '79 Corvette and some douchebag at Goodyear decided not to tighten all the lugnuts after putting the wheels back on...they flew off as I drove away...I made it about 300 yards down the road before I had one lugnut left and was able to pull over before seriously screwing up the body

You know why they "claim" that? Because its true.

Get some smaller wheels.
