lifting my dodge
I just bought a new 05 ram 1500 v6 auto 2wd and im looking to lift it. i know what some of you might think, "Why lift a 2wd", right? well, a locking diff is in the works for the rear axle, and i have heard that a locked 2wd can go 95% that 4wd can go.
My truck started out as a basic truck, something strong enough to tow my jeep around, but not too expensive. So i ended up getting this and ive towed my jeep behind it quite a bit and it does just fine.
So anyhow, now im thinkin about throwin some mods on my truck. My goal is to make it my daily driver/camping/tow rig vehicle. the DD and tow rig are settled, im just trying to get it set up to be used as a camping vehicle and do some light offroading.
What i would like to do is fit some 35s underneath with some room left over to move around. Ive thought about body lifts and coil spacers and full suspension lifts but i dont know where to look. ive been to performanceproducts.com and acmetruckparts.com and have come up empty handed.
Im thinkin i may go with a 3" body lift, but i need to aquire the additional 2-3 inches of lift. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
also, though i havent figured out what gears i have in the rear axle, im sure aftert the 35s ill need to regear. where do i go for that?
thanks guys for anything you can help me with.

yeah i am going to level mine out, tired of it looking like im on the brakes all the time, but remember with the lift that the back is easy, blocks and u bolts, got to be 3 and 1/4 i think for the axle housing, but the front you cant not go any higher than three inches without changing everything out, cant go any further then the shock can strech, just look up 2wd lift dodge 1500, and read, u will see, but its not a hard pro, and they do look mean up high, now bout the rear gears, locking diff, hmm hope you dont care bout tires and going round corners, there is a reason why they have limited slip, or posi, look up rack n pinion
All you need to fit 35" tires are a leveling kit like I have (lift coils) then a body lift. I'm savin up for the body lift now.

is yours a 4x4, did you have to use the spring compressor to level it in the front, and how big are the spacers, thats the same color as my truck, your just looks meaner, must be the lift, hmmmmm
Im interested in the fabtech 2wd 3" performance lift. thatll be in addition to a 2.5" leveling kit for the front. this 3", i see that it has coils for the front, and shocks for all four corners, but how is the rear lifted? and, where can i get it? who distributes for fabtech?
You should try looking on ebay. Top Gun Customz makes an awesome kit for the 02-06 Ram 1500 2wd both in 6" and 3" kits. They offer the same shocks that Fabtech uses in their kits, but cost about 1/2 what a fabtech lift would cost. If you check their feedback, everybody says it is an awesome kit, and fits perfectly. That is what I am ordering today. Check em out.
