I have and 03 dodge ram 5.9 diesel 6 sp manual. During shifting- I let off the throttle and push in the clutch and the engine stays and the same rpms for up to 2 seconds or until I let out the clutch in the next gear. Whats up?
The truck is new to me- less than a year- BUT its getting worse. Ive had the same truck before without issue. The higher you rev it the more noticeable it is.
Is the check engine light on? I would be interested to know what the throttle position sensor thinks is going on. Pedal position sensor as well, if your truck is drive by wire.
No engine light. Ive reviewed some other peoples problems on here- ones that have throttle or peddle position sensor and there problems are described very different. Mine does not hesitate, does not idle rough, and does not hang up above the normal idle range. Mine does- if I shift at 2500 rpms- it stays at 2500 rpms for two seconds before dropping- by which time I have shifted to the next gear and it drops when I let out the clutch.
Is this new behavior? Or has it always done that? I know some manufacturers purposely had the engine hold the higher rpm for a few seconds, to make shifting easier.........
