2003 Ram 1500

I just changed the t-stat and refilled with coolant. I have bled the line for quite some time and still getting air. No leaks. How long should it take to get all the air out?

Put the cap on and drive it. Air should work out. I've never seen a mechanic do anything more than that and neither have I.

BTW, your truck is considered 3rd gen (2002-09) so you may want to post there for more info for your particular year.

What engine do you have?

Thanks Ramman18! Its a 4.7L V8. The only reason I ask is because recently towing my trailer the radcap blew off. I don’t know if it was due to a faulty cap or because the t-stat was stuck open.. I haven’t pulled anything since but ran it and no issues. I have read some threads talking about a head leaking into the cooling system causing pressure. Didn’t know if excessive bubbles would be a sign of that or not..

And I have no clue how this ended up in the 2nd gen thread lol

You are in the 2nd gen section (94-01) your truck is a 3rd gen (02-08). The bubbles really isn't a way to tell. Any smoke coming from the exhaust? You can have the coolant tested to see if it is a head gasket (really cheap to do). If it's bad enough sometimes you can pull the plugs and see antifreeze on the plug. Or if you have a scope can look into the cylinder
