Default Can’t seat o ring properly no matter what I do

Hi all, I’ve been working for about a month now every few days or so trying to get this o ring to stop leaking. It’s on the power steering pressure line at the pump. I’ve gone through about seven o rings so far. All crushed. Throughout that time I’ve had different ideas as to what was causing this problem, but nothing I try works. So I thought maybe there is a truck to this that I’m unaware of and maybe you guys would know. Thanks

Did you replace that line? If so, I would consider having it warranty replaced. (if you can.....)

ok I might be able to do that, but just to confirm. I install this the same way I did with the others? Simple install and tighten all the way? Or is this one where over tightening is a major issue? Because every time the o rings end up crushed if I tighten all the way. Right now I’m experimenting with trying to tighten the line down, but not all the way, just enough instead. I have yet to make that work though. Also the torque specs for that flare nut say 27 foot lbs. which is definitely enough to crush the o ring. Thanks for your help

I usually just run 'em in finger tight, then hit it with a wrench..... fairly snug.....

I think the torque spec is 275 in/lbs, which is 22 ft/lbs.

Regardless, I'd snug it a 1/4 turn past finger tight and check for leaks. If no leaks, you're good. If it leaks, tighten a bit more but do not exceed 22 ft/lbs.

changing the o-ring rarely works...+1 for changing the hose. Same thing happened to me. parts debt ordered the wrong hose...tried putting a new o-ring on the old hose...fail...new hose fixed it.
