Will a trans from an 06 ,3.7 work in an 08 , 3.7 without an issues? Will cpu accept it as same trans?

 

Yes as long as it's the same trans, unfortunately somewhere during the 3rd gen run, the six bangers had RFE's and went to the 42RLE; these are NOT interchangeable.

 

Thanks for the info. Now how to go about finding out which trans I have. Trans isn't stamped like my 01 ram was. The bar code on top is worn, so it's no help. There's a bar code on tail shaft. Is there a site or maybe contact a dealer to see if they can tell?

 

Go here, and get a build sheet for your truck. That'll tell what trans you have. (one would think...)

 

Thanks hey you, punched in my vin ,gave me all info on my truck says it has the 42RLE trans. Believe my issue lies in the tail. Reverse went out, then drive right after, locked in nuetral. Estimate to rebuild $1800. Found one with 90k, hoping it's same model

 

42RLE's were used in a variety of vehicles, they are interchangeable to each other. Not sure if the RLE requires a quicklearn like the RFE does; you may want to investigate that.
