Default Spark plugs

Well after major bucks and much heart ache I found the missfire in my 5.9. The new (1500 miles ago) champion plugs had shattered at the tips of three of the cylinders. The basic wire from the electoode was all that was left. All of the cermaic at the end was completely gone. The mech said he had never see anything like this. Have any of you guys. ? Truck runs great now.... 1# number #3 and # 7 where all shattered and gone. I never did like champions to start with.

Sounds like they might of been damaged before they went in. That sounds very odd.

I have dealt with numerous failures of Champion plugs -- most similar to this. The last one was on an Iron Duke equipped Fiero that lost the ceramic and electrode and chewed the cylinder wall all to crap.

There was a time, all i would use is Champion, but I have learned my lesson, and learned it well.

It is a shame that Champion plugs are starting to get a bad reputation; well, that they do indeed have a bad reputation. Personally, I've used NGK in almost anything and really like them. Never had a problem with them. That is what I plan to switch to at 30K miles.

Everyone seems to have a bad story regarding champion plugs.

It seems the champs foul out faster in my 2 stroke dirtbike and outboard. I stick with NGK.
