Default Rear Lug Nut Studs 2007 Ram 1500 2WD

I was trying to replace my rear brakes and one of my lug nut studs broke off. Is there any way to replace one of these studs without having to drain the rear differential and remove the axle? There isn't enough room to just knock them out with my sledge. I'm most likely going to have to do this by myself and would grade myself probably 6.5-7 in mechanical acumen. Any tips would be most appreciated and I'll take some pics and post once it's daylight. Thanks in advance.

UPDATE:
Ended up having to take the axle off, which wasn't as hard as I thought. Once you get the cover off, it's as easy as removing one bolt, a C shaped spacer, and that's it. The lugnut studs all had to be replaced and cost about $56 and I gave a mechanic $20 at the dealership to put them on my axle. The oil was about $40. I attached pics, oh and I used red RTV sealant to make the gasket.

They *should* be able to be changed with the axle in place..... Should...... If there isn't enough room to knock out the old one, and insert the new one, you simply do not have any choice but to pull the axle.

If you have a grinder, cut the stud of and knock it out. You'll be able to fish it out from around your parking/e-brake hardware. You'll also be able to fish the new one back up in there. You're gonna have to pry on the shoes to get your fingers and the stud up in the hole, and then put a nut on it to pull it through to seat. I had to do this on my 05. It might take a little bit and several tries, but it will work
