Default Chrome clad wheel vibration

2007 1500 quad cab 5.7L. Have been having a slight vibration/shake around 45-50 mph through the seat. The truck had replacement tires when I bought it and I replaced the tires a couple years after purchasing it. I don’t recall when the vibration first started, whether it was with the old or the new tires. However, it came from the factory with the chrome clad 20” wheels. I’ve had rhe wheels rebalanced, but I’m seeing a lot of threads about proper method for balancing chrome clad wheels. Anyone experience this problem and get it resolved with proper chrome clad wheel balancing?

Doesn't matter what your wheels are made of, how they are formed, if they are cast, or forged, they all get balanced the same way. Only real difference being what variety of weights the shop uses. (and that varies by the construction of the wheel.) Any competent shop can balance your wheels. They should also be able to check and see if any of them are bent. (which would also give you a vibration....)

actually, from what I’ve read on forums and wheel balancing sites, chrome clad wheels require an adapter that uses the lugs to center the wheel. If you use the cone, the wheel doesn’t sit correctly on the cone because it contacts the chrome clad tabs and the wheel doesn’t balance right

I've been doing this a long time, and I have never had that problem. Maybe on cheap wheels, (made in china...) where the plating process wasn't very good, that *might* be an issue, otherwise, as I said, any competent shop can balance them.

I had a 2004 I bought new with the chrome clad wheels, never had a problem balancing tires - and I went through quite a few tires over the 11 years and 150k miles I put on it. For the majority of the time I was picking up used/new take offs, mostly because of the cost and I would often be driving in areas that I might get a puncture. Early on, there were some shops that couldn't mount the tires because 20 inch wheels were not the norm back then.

Best thing to do, when taking stuff in for service, is to make sure everything is super clean and shined up... techs tend to do better work when you do that, I used polishing compound on the chrome part, then waxed it up - they still looked like new when I sold that truck. I didn't even realize they were chrome plastic until I had it home and was washing them. I was PO'd that Dodge did that clad sutff... but in the end I was wrong, that was an upgrade not a downgrade.
