Anyone know why an 04 hemi will not rev past 3800-4000 on the road; almost got me into a wreck trying to go around a big truck on a hill. No codes. New factory plugs, cleaned the throttle body and replaced the intake air temp sensor and pcv valve just in case. Am baffled. Truck runs good and it will do this intermittently. It is acting just as if it were low on oil.

If you're using a half quart of oil per 1k mi, you have another problem that needs to be addressed. Such as a stuck open PCV, headwork, or a clogging cat.

I appreciate the feedback and it is possible my cat may be about to have problems. The factory t stat never let the truck get down to idle even though I live in las vegas. Changed it out about a year ago because the rubber around it started to leak and the new one caused my rpms to drop way down. Did not know that was normal until asking around. The temp guage never got above 3/8 even at 115 degrees outside. I have also been reading and what I am experiencing may be one of the o2 sensors. That is next on the order of changing things out. The stealerships in vegas are not user friendly! So am trying to figure this out on my own. Truck never did the hemi tick or used any oil until I change over to mobil 1 syn about 6 years ago; heard it was normal for the hemi to use oil. Thanks for your input. Hope it does not need head work!!!

It should rev to nearly 6000 rpm and if it's not something is wrong with it

Should be rev limited when revving free in either park or neutral.
In drive on the freeway a stock Hemi revs till about 5600, then changes gear..... Or it should.
