Default Hemi, rev limit

Does anybody know if the 5.7 hemi will limit the amount of RPMs? I can only rev mine to 4k and it stops it. My Dealer did not know if this was normal! Thanks for the help !

I don't know if this is normal or not for the Hemi, I have not rev'ed my engine just to see how high it will go. I have gotten on the gas, but I was paying attention to the road and didn't notice the RPMs. However, the dealer that sold me my truck did say that the computer limits the engine until it reaches about 5k. My truck is just now getting to that point, so I'll let you know if I notice a difference.

Thanks for the info, I was running it fairly hard when I noticed it dropped down to 2nd gear and would only go to 4K, when I got it home is when I noticed that it would only rev to 4k, I will let it go awhile and see what happens. This is a great site, thanks to all for the great info

Sitting still, the engine will only rev to 3800/4000 RPM. If the transmission is engaged and the truck is rolling, higher RPMs can be attained. There are limits during the initial few thousand miles. At least that has been my experience.

I'm pretty sure it will rev pretty high. On the dyno the other day it was shifting around 6K. mazz is right about the neutral revs. I think even Neons have the neutral limiter.

During the hemi "breakin" period, i.e. the first 5,000 miles, the computer limits the top rpm to 5700rpm. After 5,000 miles it should go up to 5900rpm. The 3900rpm in park thing is just plain annoying.
