Default am i missing a plastic guard in my engine bay?

i've been having problems with my truck losing power steering when i splash through puddles ... narrowed it down ... the belt is definitely slipping when it gets wet until all the water burns off ... as i look down i notice that there's a big emtpy space beneath the pullies that is allowing water to splash up (will post pics tommorrow) ... wanted to know if anyone else is having this problem or am i just missing some sort of plastic splash guard or something ... pics of your engine bays looking down at the pullies would help ... 2003 QC 2WD ... thanks guys

Just post the pics and I'll take a look at mine to confirm or exclude a missing plastic piece. I've gone through lots of rain and puddles without any problems. Sure your idler pulley/tensioner is in good working order?

It's not an '03, of course, but doubt it's different. My '05 hemi. One just looks straight through to the leafy ground. No cover or shield.

I think that is correct. I will be working on my hood later today and will check.

i was thinking about this topic... why won't you guys just get some plates of metal, work it up, and put it under the truck as a skid plate if you feel uncertain about it

I am not conerned about it. It is possible the off road truck has a skid plate that covers all this. If so why make when you can buy a prefitted part. One of the off road owners would have to chime in as to a possible plate on their trucks.

No shield belongs in that area. Water shouldn't get up in there either, unless your submerging the front end. Take a look at your belt and pulleys. How many miles do you have on your vehicle? If you replace the belt, I would use either a Contitech belt, or a mopar. Either way, I think Contitech makes the mopar part. Don't use a goodyear, they are noisy, Especially gator backs.
