Default Replacing transmission filters tomorrow-gasket OK or must I use RTV?

2008 1500 4x4 with 5.7L Hemi 545RFE Transmission.
Planning transmission filter replace tomorrow. First time I've done it. I bought one of the Fel-Pro gaskets. You guys think the gasket is fine, or is RTV better? Or some combo of both? Thanks in advance.

I used the gasket and it worked great, no RTV necessary. Be sure to put the bolts in the pan and gasket before replacing it on the transmission. You'll never get the holes to line up otherwise. It's easy to strip those bolts so use a torque wrench with inch-pound setting. Most auto part stores have them as loaners.

Thanks for the reply. I did borrow an inch-lbs torque wrench and will do as suggested with the bolts. Didn't get to this yesterday. It got cold and dark while I was doing the diffs, transfer case, and oil change.

Old thread but just realized I never followed up. I actually returned the Fel-Pro gasket and used a gasket from Lube-Locker. They are pretty unique, made of thin metal with rubber or rubber-like ribs and they are supposedly reusable. I can't speak to reusable yet but six months out from the filter change and not even one drop of leakage. Because the gasket is thin metal, it doesn't twist or bend, so lining up the holes was a breeze. Plus they give you a "LubeLocker" sticker for the window.
