02 Ram 4.7 reluctor wheel?
I am sure it has been asked before. I check the forums but could not find a link. So I have a 02 dodge ram with 4.7 motor. We replaced the block with a 4.7 jeep motor with a 32 tooth reluctor tone ring. It was supposed to have a 16 tooth. Now the heads are from a dodge motor so they match up. And you guessed it, it will turn over but not crank. I have been told just swap out the tone rings, but that sounds like a lot work. I have been told you can also program the sensor to read a 16 tone ring. Will that work? That seems to be the easiest solution. I have over $4,000 in it right now. Tried to sell it as is and can only get $1,200 if I am lucky. Thoughts?

Unfortunately, I think the toner ring is on the crankshaft. The 2002 was a one year only beast. I was going to swap out the engine if I couldn't save it. (I did.) The 2002 has a 16 tooth and later engines have a 32 tooth ring. The computers are different. The '02 has three plugs on the engine computer under the hood and another one with a single plug farther back for the transmission. In '03 there are 4 plugs on the computer.
What I'd suggest is to find another '02. Ram, Dakota, Durango with the 4.7. If it's wrecked, no problem. You want the engine. This will give you the engine, you can part the rest of it out. Then you can sell your other engine to someone needing a newer engine. This way, you'll reduce your fiscal investment. You'll also have a bunch of parts you can probably use on your truck.
