Default 5.7 hemi overheating

2005 5.7 ram 1500
my truck is having a tendency to overheat while driving around town however it cools down on the highway.
At the same time even while the engine is at temperature, I don’t get any heat into the interior until I rev the engine.
Are these water pumps known to stop moving coolant? I’ve heard the impeller is plastic and can corrode over time. If it was a thermostat issue I should still get heat to the interior
And yes the coolant is topped up

I would still suspect low coolant. What you describe are the key symptoms thereof. Either that, or you have a pretty serious air pocket in there somewhere.

You should also test your fan clutch.
I recommend that you fix the engine cooling issue first. Interior heat problem may or may not be related.
When is the last time you changed the coolant? You may have a clog.
For the interior heat, flush the heater core with a garden hose and see what comes out.
