Default rebuild 4.7 or hemi swap

I've been having some issues with my 4.7 lately that are now serious. At first it was just the normal oil pressure issues you seem to hear about but now its escalated to no oil pressure at all while in gear. Spoke to a mechanic and he suggested the oil pump was probably bad. I have already changed the oil pressure sender once about a year ago so I don't think its that. If I'm gonna go as far as to get to the oil pump then he said I should also replace the timing chains. I also need to change the water pump because its been leaking for a little bit now. In all I'm looking at about 600 to 800 dollars not including labor. I've been wanting to do a hemi swap for a while now but could never really justify the cost until now. So if any of you would like to offer up some advice I would really appreciate it. If doing the swap is only gonna cost me another 2 or 3 hundred with me doing the work than I think I would rather just do that instead. Any and all information is useful. Its an 03 ram 1500, 4.7 v8, with about 230,000 miles on it, 2 wheel drive. Thanks

Put a mechanical gauge on it, and verify oil pressure before you start throwing money at it.

Agreed. I replaced the oil pressure sender on my 4.7L due to fluctuating than zero oil pressure indication. I had oil pressure. It was the sender.
