Default Truck battery voltage gauge

Sorry I have another question.......
I live in cold weather, not extreme cold but today is about 45 outside. When I started my truck, it started fine but I noticed the battery voltage gauge was on like 12. I let the truck idle for a little bit and the needle started climbing to above 14. Never saw it do this before or else I never noticed. Is this ok? Is it due to the cold? It is parked in a car port not a garage.

Thanks again for the help!!

45 isn't cold...... Here, where I am, it is currently a whopping 17 degrees out. (and that's the highest it has gotten today......) If the alternator is slow to wake up, try giving it a bit of gas once it starts, and see if it wakes up any sooner.

But is this normal? It didn't take but a few minutes to get up past 14.

That's a little longer than I would be comfy with..... But, if it does indeed come up, and only does it at cold startup, just watch it for a while, see if it gets worse.

So it appears my battery tender was bad so my batteries ran down. I'm hoping this was the issue and that the batteries and alternator are fine.
