Default 3m film paint protecting stuff?

Not sure exactly where to post this, so I'll stick it here. 3m makes a clear film designed to be applied to certain areas of vehicles to protect the paint. I was wondering if anyone has had this done and if it really protects the paint. I know, its a truck, but it still likes to be pampered .

Hey, that sounds a really cool idea.
All those ugly small paint chips on the front end might be a thing of the past.................?

Post to let us know what the outcome is guys.

Here's a 12' x 6" roll for $20. I use it where the rear glass seal from my cap meets the tailgate. Works great, but not totally invisible.

Here is a link. Looks like they recommend having it professionally done. There's only one place listed as being an installer in my area and I've never heard of them. I also have no idea how much something like this would cost.

I had this on the front of my other truck on the front edge of the hood( where a bug shield would be) It worked great. From about 10 feet away you couldn't even see it. It protected it for the three years that I had it. I would even recommend putting it down the side of the truck at the bottom
