P0404 code and EGR valve thoughts
Just wanted to share my experience and thoughts about trouble code P0404. My original EGR valve lasted for 11 years. I purchased a replacement in 2016 from O'Reilly's Auto Parts and it lasted about 2 years. The second one gave me a P0404 code but I ignored it for about a year because I knew what the problem was and the truck did not drive any different. Recently, I decided to go ahead and fix the problem so I went back to O'Reilly's and bought another EGR valve and installed it. The truck started running like crap immediately... hesitation, rough idle, surging, lack of power, etc. I remembered reading somewhere a while back that not all parts are created equal (like EGR valves) so I ponied up the money for a Mopar EGR valve (53032509AN) and all my problems have been solved.
My point to this whole story is this... if you replace a part and it does not fix your problem or things get worse... thought more expensive, you might want to try an original Mopar replacement part. Just my thoughts...
