Default 2005 Dodge Ram rear bumper replacement

I am replacing my rear bumper and wanted to know if it could be done without removing the tailgate. I am doing this myself and figured I could do it alone if I didn't have to remove it. It is pretty much just 8 bolts as the bumper is not bolted to the hitch. Thanks.

You don't need to remove the tailgate to replace the rear bumper.
When installing new bumper, the torque for the bracket bolts are 40ft/lbs.

Thanks so much. It will sure make it easier to be a one man job. Thanks also for the torque info.

If I may ask, how much did you pay for the bumper? I have rust in the corners and some dents as well. I’d like to replace it one day soon.

There were also some bolts behind the license plate and two on upper rim of bumper on my truck.

$200 at Amazon now, but the price does fluctuate. Put it on a list and watch. I think I've seen it near $150.
I need to replace mine too because of dents.

Wow. That's a lot less than I thought it would be.
