Default Airaid intake tube

Anyone have this? If so do you have pics of it on your truck? Did you have to remove the plastic Hemi cover off the throttle body?

That is the Airaid JR. kit. It uses the stock box and should include an Airaid filter (square) and that tube pictured. You would probably have to look twice to notice something is different under the hood. Since it is using the factory box you will not get the sucking sound you would get if you bought a CAI. I like the sucking sound.

If you get it, just dump the stock air box, and run a cone filter on the end of the tube. It'll definitely sound better and give you better fuel economy if your not a lead foot. I bought a setup from ebay for under $70 shipped. It included a 3 piece tube that ran from the throttle body right down near the washer fluid bottle. Just recently I removed the lower 2 pieces and just put the filter on the first piece near the engine. I figure this way, it will keep the salt and road crap off the tube and filter. Besides, in the winter, the air is cold enough that the engine heat isn't gonna effect the performance. just my 2 cents.

No need for a CAI/cone filter, I have a ram air hood that uses the stock airbox. That is why I thought this tube may be worth it. See pics in this post for my hood/ram air. If anything that plastic tube would be easier to clean that then stock rubber tube. I am just mainly conerned about...

1. Does it hook to the stock airbox, Dr. Phil answered that one, thanks!
2. Do I have to remove the plastic Hemi TB cover. Judging by Phil's reply it would be no you do not have to remove it.

You shouldn't have to. It is merely a replacement for the stock accordian tube. I do however am unsure if it will fit the stock airbox, because I think they are designed for the Airaid CAI, but I am sure you can clamp it.

Did you get one?

How did it work for you?

With the stock airbox, how does just changing the tube and filter sound?

The Airaid intake system is one of the better investments you can put on a Hemi. Just intalled mine last week, i have an '05 QC Hemi Thunder Road, and it made a huge difference. I installed it two days after i put in my flash paq and i still noticed a big difference. Much better throttle response and kind of a cool sound too. The intake also makes up for loss of MPG that the flash paq takes.

Not hard to install at all, took less than an hour and it replaces the whole entire stock air intake system from the throttle body to the box, (you get a new box), nice new conical filter and tube and youre all set. I think i spent maybe $250.00 on it, well worth it.

By the way, I'm new to this forum and I've been using it as a tool since i bought my Ram in July. Thanks for all the advice.

Also, if anyone has any information on new projection head lights for '05 Rams, please let me know! Stock head lights suck!
